The oldest building of Broager School here on Vestergade is from 1912. At that time, students from Smøl, Broger, and Mølmark went to school in Broager at four different addresses. The aim was then to gather all 6 classes in one school. Vestergade 19 was found to be the right place, so on September 3, 1912, 300 students could go to school here.
Since then, the number of students has grown, peaking around the year 2000 with just over 700 students. There has also been a lot of construction, with major expansions and renovations in 1954, 1960, 1966, 1969, 1972, and 1982. Currently, there are about 550 students at the school, which is now the only municipal public school in Broagerland
The property at Vestergade 20 is still known as “Merchant Lund”. It is now used exclusively as a residential property with 8 apartments. It was built in 1900 as a grocery and hardware store. Thus, there has been merchant Harald Petersen, merchant Knarhøi, merchant Schmidt, and merchant Horn, before merchant Ejnar Lund started in 1941.

Merchant Lund ran the business until 1985, after which the shop premises were rented out to various businesses.
